What a find! So far so good.
On arrival, met by Barry the warden. Real friendly bloke who showed us the site so we could choose a pitch. He gave good advice on pitches so we could find one that suited us.
Our pitch was at the bottom left corner of the plan, 2nd on the left of the sole two hardstanding pitches there. Had a camper van next to us, and a tent on the grass on the other side. Did not feel cramped at all.
Found a warden called Sarah, who is into her cycling & walking. She shared her Strava with me and showed a few routes I would like. If it wasn't so hot we probably will do them straight away. As it is, we'll wait till later in the day, maybe tomorrow for a ride. There is a nice walk into Hanley Swan that we might do this afternoon though. Check out the pub.
Friday 12 Aug
New arrivals opposite, a gobby loud bloke who has no patience with his kid or his dog. Dragged his dog by the collar, back into their tent on a boiling hot day. Another bloke helping him setup, using a drill to put tent pegs in the ground. A drill!
So we buggered off, in this heat, on the bikes for some time away from our new 'neighbour'.
Rode down into Henley Swan, little exploring, back to Henley Swan for a beer.
Booked a table for 5.30 the next day.
Tonight though, Laura would like a good old fashioned chippy, and there is a mobile chip shop that comes on site at 6 - 7.30
Lau reckons we should only book mid week now to avoid other people, especially those with kids! 😂
A good idea that!
