Our first impressions...
Plenty of room, nice toilet and showers. Concrete hardstands.
The wifi is open, not secured. Laura can connect to WiFi for work email and Skype. Not tested video conferencing. 106 DTV channels, after turning the mains power on... WiFi is not good enough for Netflix as it keeps lagging.
Our pitch seems to be the best one! 25 yds to the washing up and showers/ toilets. Plot ST53
Chatted to the owner on arrival about nearby pubs, he said the Boathouse (nearest) is the most expensive pub in Bath at £5.50 for a Guiness, (he reckons its because its by the Bath Park n' Ride). He advised the other pubs nearer Bath are better, such as the Locksbrook Inn.
We later rode into Bath to see where the park run would start. Canal path nearly all the way, except the end (up a mutha of a hill) so we won't ride in, we'll probably take the Park n Ride.
Stopped in the Locksbrook Inn for a pint, which turned into two, then a pizza. We're on holidays!
Back home in Beti for a snack, watch some telly or read. Gotten really dark by 6.45.
Day 2 Friday
Went to the Bath Spa today. Took the park and ride bus down into town, booked in at 9.30 for a 2 hour session.
We went for a dip in the lower ground floor pool, really warm with jacuzzi and lazy river type current.
Popped up to the rooftop pool, then down to the middle level for the treatment areas. Didn't have treatment but used the sauna, steam room and infra red room.
After a morning of relaxing, went into town to look for a dress for Laura, had a bagel for lunch and an ice cream. Then back to base.
After that heavy day we both napped in the afternoon, a lovely afternoon out was too much with the sun out 😀. Just noted that the site was getting busier as well... as long as they stay away from us!
Went for a walk down to the Locksbrook again for a couple of pints (Lau had a mocktini and then a coffee). Back to the van for supper (pie and chips from a tesco meal deal). At the pub though we did decide on our Saturday meal though, a Spanish tapas place in Bath.
Did notice a LOT MORE campers arrived whilst we were out. Definately don't arrive on a Friday night. That's seems to be the time they all arrive. We did well by coming on a Thursday.
Day 3 Saturday
Rode along the railway cycle path to Britton Station - full of runners, walkers and cyclists. These cyclists are the worst though. Bells haven't been invented around here apparently.
We got back after 10 miles, so Laura went for a run too... I guarded the motor home and ruined in the telly, ready for the rugby.
Someone parked up next to us. Two more arrived on site - very busy here.
Watching Wales v Italy, last day of the 6 nations. Wales not playing well at the mo. 7 - 12 to Italy so far. Final win to Italy 21-22
Day 4 - Home
Cooked breakfast on the last morning, and an interesting drive home as we were being sent down really narrow lanes so I avoided those and took longer routes around.
